He was born in West Chester, Pa., Oct. 21, 1880, the son of John and Agnes Flannigan Ryan. He was raised there, and on July 18, 1913, he was married to Elevlyn Merwin in Los Angeles, Calif.
In 1916 they moved to Salt Lake city, Utah, where he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1917. Following his discharge in 1918, he and his family moved to Glenns Ferry where he continued working for the railroad. In 1920, they moved to Idaho Falls, where he worked for the railroad until he retired in 1935.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Three sons preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, and a son, Jack Ryan of Idaho Falls; a sister, Anna Ryan of Philadelphia, Pa.,a nd six granchildren.
