Joseph J Sprenger married Mary Gertrude Brocar in Floyd Co., Indiana, July 6, 1901. Joseph and Gertrude never had children. The Brocar family plot was purchased by Albert C. Brocar Sr. on September 17, 1924. In May of 1928 five adults and seven children were moved there. Joseph died from a head injury a result of being a pedestrian struck by an automobile.
