Helen Clifford Peters Sloss died February 27, 2012 in Yorba Linda, California at the age of ninety-nine.
Born in Galveston, Texas in 1912, she spent her early years in Portland, Oregon. She was a proud graduate of Reed College, class of 1936.
Before retirement, Mrs. Sloss was an executive for thirty-seven years with Pacific Telephone and pioneered jobs normally held by men. Mrs. Sloss also served in key leadership positions in the Presbyterian Church including serving as the interim executive of the Los Angeles Presbytery.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Robert D. Wertz of Yorba Linda; her daughter, Sharon L. Mead, RN of Chino; seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Burial will be by her mother, father, and baby brother Paul in River View Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
