He is also a charter member of the acting company of the Granbury Opera House in Granbury, Texas.

Hobbies included acting and piloting. He always loved animals. There are dogs and cats in many of his pictures!

He was married to Mary Colleen Mcmahon for many years and had one child, Mckensi Marie Dyess born in 1988. His parents were James Therman Dyess and Dovie Jewel Myrick.

We all remember him as a big, kind bear of a man with a huge voice. He was usually standing in the back of the auditorium asking why we could hear him, but he could not hear us! He built sets like no other high school ever had and made sure we learned to saw, paint, and plan so we could do it too. He was just amazing and because of him, we all have a great love of theater!!

He touched so many hearts!!

Niena Jones St Clair said: We were like the island of misfit toys, Dyess gave us all a hassle free place to hang out. I never thought of theatre as class, it was escape for me. Those who knew me at the time can tell you, I needed escape. He was remarkable to say the least.
