Mrs. Edwards' death is believed to have been hastened by worry over her losses. About one-third of her property was recovered through the efforts of E.L. Dishman chief examiner of the state corporation commission. Death was due to heart disease, it was reported last night at the home of Dr. T.M. Cunningham who attended Mrs. Edwards.
News of the aged woman's loss came to the attention of authorities when she reported that three well-dressed men, representing themselves as bond salesmen, had taken her stocks and bonds without giving her receipts and either had given her other stocks or had agreed to sell her other stocks or had agreed to sell her property on the New York Stock Exchange. Dishman recovered some of the stock and was endeavoring to recover more of it when report of Mrs. Edwards' death was made.
Mrs. Edwards had lived in La Mesa for more than 25 years. She was active in club work there until recent years and she was president of the women's guild 14 years. She had been making her home with her brother-in-law for some time.
The body was taken to the Fred Erickson undertaking establishment in La Mesa, pending arrangement of services. It was said that Mrs. Edwards is survived only by her brother-in-law.
