Mabelle V. Fowler, age 98, of Mayville, lifetime area resident, died Tuesday January 17, 2012. Mabelle was born on October 22, 1913 in Mayville to Lyle and Flossie (Huntley) White. Mrs. Fowler worked a time for the Mayville Monitor, Lapeer State Home and Lapeer Medal Products. She was a beautiful quilter, talented seamstress and always canned food. The family never went without. Mabelle was proud of the fact that none of her children have ever been divorced. She will be missed. Mrs. Fowler is survived by her daughter-in-law: Winifred Thornton of Mayville, children: Nadene Miller of Genesee, Leah (Joe) Robbins of Mayville, Max (Nancy) Fowler of Attica, Stuart (Bonnie) Thornton of Mayville, Daniel (Vicki) Thornton of Lapeer, Ronald (Doris) Thornton of Mayville and Donald (Bonnie) Thornton of Vassar; 100 grandchildren; 108 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchildren, sisters: Marguerite Kowitz of Vassar & Madeline Dickerson of Vassar and many nieces & nephews. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her first husband: Eldred Thornton; second husband: Ernest Fowler; son: Wildrex Thornton, her parents and infant siblings: Robert & Maxine. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer, Elder Vicki Beebe officiating, with burial in Rich Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community of Christ Church.
