Jerry M. Baity, 61, of west Burlington died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born June 16, 1947, in Mount Pleasant he was the son of Chester and Jane Holaday Baity. On Oct. 6, 1984, he married.

Mr. Baity was a machinist for Burlington Northern Railroad for 30 years. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Machinist Union Local 531 of Burlington. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in West Burlington. He was a former Boy Scout leader and Little League coach. He enjoyed reading, computers and watching sports.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
