Oregon's deadliest Memorial Day weekend in 25 years...
Jason Lee Cox, 28, of Gresham, was driving a motorcycle northbound on Southeast 122nd Avenue near Reedway Street when he lost control, veered off the road and crashed into a pole at about 1 a.m. Saturday, May 26, said Sgt. Brian Schmautz, spokesman for the Portland Police Bureau.
His passenger – Jessi Diann Clauson, 17, of Estacada – died later that day of blunt force injuries to the chest and abdomen at Oregon Heath & Sciences University. Initially, her injuries were not considered life threatening, because she was conscious at the accident scene and walked to the ambulance, Schmautz said.
Police suspect alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
