Dorothy Specht Ackerman, wife of Reverend Dr. William S. Ackerman '34 of Manchester, New Jersey, passed away on August 10, 2006. She was a pastoral visitor at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River before retiring in 2002. She also served as associate director of field education at Princeton Theological Seminary, and as director of Christian education and associate pastor at the Presbyterian Church of Livingston. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Dr. William S. Ackerman '34, who graduated from Bloomfield College in 1934. Reverend Ackerman is a former trustee and was awarded an honorary degree from the College in 1969. He served as a minister of the Presbyterian Church (USA) for over sixty years, and also as pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Livingston, NJ and Minister of Visitation at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, NJ before retiring in 1999.
