Dr. Justema, 86, was born in 1925 in Grand Haven, Mich., to Dr. Elmer J. Justema Sr. and Jana Boonstra Justema.
Dr. Justema was a physician for over 50 years and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He practiced at Rush-Presbyterian and Hinsdale Hospital. Dr. Justema was very proud of being one of the first specialists in his field to practice in the Hinsdale area. He was a Board Member of Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, a member of the Board of Control of Intercollegiate Athletics of the University of Michigan and a dedicated supporter and fan for the University of Michigan Football Team. Dr. Justema's hobbies included attending many U of M football games, fly-fishing and Southwestern Art.
He is survived by his loving companion, Joanne Cook; his children, E. John (Marcia) Justema III of Dallas and Paul Charles (Christine) Justema of Hinsdale; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Jan. 3 at Adolf Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Willowbrook. Interment will be private Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven, Mich.
