At the time of her birth in Norway the naming convention used was to take the first name of the father and add sen, for son of, to the end, and dotter for daughter of. So in Norway any record for her would read Svensdotter for her family, last, name. The convention in the US is you use Svensen, so her records here would read Svensen.
