Lula Mae Dettweiler, 73, of south Oklahoma City OK, passed away on Aug. 23, 2010, at her home. She was born on Jan. 22, 1937, in Parker, Arizona. She was the 4th of 5 children and the only daughter born to Omer Jackson Cannon and Lucy Jane (McCutcheon) Cannon. She grew up in the Atoka OK area, where she learned how to work hard as a young girl.

Lula kept that same work ethic throughout her life, providing and caring for her family. As a teenager, she met and married a young man from Atoka named Joe Scott. Together, they raised several children and were married for 25 years before he passed away. After many years of being single, Lula met her second love of her life, Clarence Dettweiler, a man from south Oklahoma City. They were married on Dec. 28, 1999.

Throughout her life, Lula worked various jobs, but was mainly a homemaker, wife, and mother. Her and Clarence's favorite pastime was camping each year at the Blue River near Tishomingo OK.

Lula was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe; parents Omer and Lucy; brothers Kenneth and Jimmy Cannon; son Clarence Dettweiler; daughter Sharon Faye Cox; daughter-in-law Barbara Scott; and son-in-law, Don McGee.

Lula is survived by her husband Clarence, of the home; children Jo Ann Scott Sutton and husband Dennis of Newcastle OK, Roger Scott of Newcastle, Linda McGee of Longview WA, Betty Lundin of Oklahoma City, Joyce Burrow and husband Fred Of Arnett OK, Maggie Akins and husband Joe of Arnett, and Sherrie Ladd and husband Larry of Blanchard; brothers Don Cannon and wife Allene of Texas, and Bobby Cannon of Tulsa OK; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 28, 2010, at Woodland Hills Baptist church in Newcastle. Interment was in Fairview cemetery in Tuttle OK, under the direction of Wilson Little funeral home in Newcastle.
