He was born to Rudolf and Clara (Elsted) Staudenraus in Milbank, S.D., where he graduated from high school before enlisting in the Army in 1940.
During World War II, Mr. Staudenraus survived the Bataan Death March and spent 3½ years as a prisoner of war before he was liberated in September 1945. He was discharged in 1946.
He married Hazel Scholes in Seattle on March 1, 1947.
While living in Seattle, Mr. Staudenraus was in the real estate and insurance industries. After moving to Port Angeles in 1964, he established Angeles Realty.
Mr. Staudenraus was a member of the Peninsula Chapter of Ex-POWs, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters-in-law Jeff and Jan Staudenraus of Bend, Ore., and Jim and Teresa Staudenraus of Carlsbad, Calif.; daughter Julie Myers of Port Angeles and daughter and son-in-law Jean and Steve Dellino of Snohomish; sister Delores Burnett of Edmonds; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
