McCord's parents were Rev. Braxton McCord Roberts (1810-1883) & Mary Adeline Headlee (1832-1909).

He was a "horse and carriage doctor," practicing medicine 7 years in Lamar, 7 years in Lexington, and then in Marshfield.

McCord married Martha ("Mattie") Ellen Holman in Greene County, Missouri on 27 Aug 1882.

As a medical student, McCord delivered future president Harry Truman. ["Dr Roberts, my grandfather, was studying under Dr Griffin in Lamar, MO at the time President Truman was born. Dr Griffin was out of town, so he was the one that delivered the baby. He was just a student, so he was never credited for the delivery. My grandfather did not care. I have a wonderful newspaper clipping of President Harry Truman and my Uncle Ed. (They were friends.) My Uncle Ed became a General under the presidency of Truman."]

He died at home (2317 North Campbell) of a Cerebral Hemorrhage on his and Mattie's 52nd wedding anniversary.

"A man integrity and love for his fellow man."
