Age 77, of Huntsville, Ohio, died February 20, 2012 at "Governor's Island" the Marianist Community at Indian Lake. Born August 29, 1934 in Chesaning, MI, son of the late William and Ruth (Henry) Deanhofer.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred, Christine, Rita, Leona, Anita and Geraldine and brothers, Alfred, Arnold and Leo. Bro Bill is survived by his sisters, Darlene McKone, Agnes Davis, Mary Carpenter, and Kathleen Knieper as well as many nieces and nephews.
He professed first vows in the Society of Mary (Marianists) on September 8, 1953, at Marcy, New York and perpetual vows August 15, 1960, in Dayton, Ohio. Bro Bill graduated from the University of Dayton in 1957 with a B.A. in Education. He taught at North Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, PA in 1957-58, and from 1963-1978. He also taught at St. John's of Rockaway, Rockaway Park, NY, 1958-63, Msgr. Hackett High School, Kalamazoo, MI, and Covington Catholic High School, Covington, KY between 1978 and 1984.
After retraining, he became Director of Maintenance at Moeller High School, Cincinnati, OH from 1985 to 89, St. Catherine's Parish, Kalamazoo, MI from 1989 to 99. In 1999, Bro. Bill moved to Governor's Island to continue maintenance and grounds keeping for the community and ministry until the present.
Visitation will take place at Queen of Apostles Chapel at Mt. St. John between 6:00 pm and 7 pm on Monday, February 27, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 7 p.m. Burial will be on Tuesday, February 27, 2012 at 9 am at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Mt. St. John, Dayton, Ohio. Arrangements by Bradford-Connelly & Glickler Funeral Home.
