Pauline Graham "Polly" Mason, 91, of Brunswick, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Brunswick, with interment at McClellanville Methodist Cemetery in McClellanville, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Monday at the Welcome Center of First United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

Polly was born on August 9, 1920 to the late Thomas and Eugenie Graham in McClellanville, South Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree in history from Lander College in Greenwood, S.C.

In 1947, Polly married Jack Varnedoe Mason of Summerton, S.C. They raised their family in South Carolina before moving to Brunswick in 1966. In Brunswick, Polly worked as an elementary school teacher at Sidney Lanier Elementary, Reynolds Street Elementary, and Burroughs-Molette Elementary.

Polly was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brunswick where she was active in United Methodist Women. She was a founding member of the church's Manna House team and a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class.

Polly is survived by three children: Jack (Candice) Mason of Brunswick, David (Tyffany) Mason of Denton, Texas, and Claudia (Tom) Schneider of Brunswick; six grandchildren: Emily Mason, Tom (Daryl) Mason, Rachel (Rob) Styn, David Mason, Ben Mason, and Mason Schneider; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack V. Mason, Sr., her parents, and her seven brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund of Brunswick First United Methodist Church or Hospice of the Golden Isles.
