After her father died when she was seven years old, his large estate went to her mother, Frances Gerrard, Speke, Peyton, Appleton, Washington Hardidge (her mother had been married and widowed four times.) Unfortunately county records containing the wills of Frances Hardidge and her husband are lost, but records do show Capt. Hardidge's will was proved and admitted to record on February 28, 1693 and that his inventory was returned to the court April 25, 1694.

March 25, 1696, Elizabeth Hardidge elected Mr. Benjamin Blanchflower, the husband of her Aunt Temperance Gerrard, to be her guardian. In the will of John Washington II, the watch he had previously received from her father, William Hardidge, was returned to Elizabeth on January 22, 1697. There are no records left for Cople Parish church registers, so it is not definitely known when Elizabeth married Henry Ashton, son of Captain John Ashton and his wife Grace. But on April 30, 1702, Elizabeth relinquished her dower rights of the land sold by her husband Henry Ashton, land which was originally patented by Col. Thomas Speke and known by the name of Currioman. In 1711 Henry Ashton and his wife, Elizabeth Hardidge Ashton, sole heir of William Hardidge, deceased, made a deed to Gerard Hutt, Burditt Ashton, Charles Ashton and Osman Crabb for them to hold for the heirs of Henry and Elizabeth the two tracts of land which as sole heir of her father, inherited from him.

One tract of 1,000 acres first patented by Col. Thomas Speke, was the one bought in 1691 by William Hardidge from Speke's heirs in England. The other tract, 2,000 acres first patented by Valentine Peyton (Frances Gerrard's 2nd husband) was the estate of Peyton's son Gerrard, who willed it to Elizabeth, his half sister.

Four daughters were born to Elizabeth and Henry Ashton: Frances, Elizabeth, Anne and Grace. Their daughter Frances died in 1720.

Married Col. Henry Ashton.

Her tomb has the Hardidge family coat of arms on it. She was the mother of four daughters: Frances Ashton; Elizabeth Ashton; Anne Ashton and Grace Ashton.
