Kathleen's parents were born in Ontario, Canada. Her father John's family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada prior to 1891. He returned to Ontario in 1901 to marry Kathleen's mother Lillian. By 1906 John and Lillian were living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where Kathleen was born on 4 May 1906.


By 1929 Kathleen and her parents were residing in Pasadena, Los Angeles County. They returned to Canada briefly and entered the United States again via Blaine, Washington in September 1933 for the purpose of becoming naturalized citizens. That process was completed in 1939.


Kathleen attended the University of California in Berkley, where she graduated from the Public Nursing Class in 1930. She immediately joined the City of Pasadena Health Department and was Senior Public Health Nurse when she retired in June 1968, after 28 years of employment with the Department.


She did not marry and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Kathleen died in Pasadena on 21 January 1998.
