S1C US Navy,1944-1945 had duty on a minesweeper, USS YMS-124 stationed out of Alaska, patrolled and escort duty on the west coast of the United States.

Mr. David Lee Willoughby, 82, resident of Windermere Drive and retired manage of Servomation-Willoughby , died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 1997 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. John Anderson officiating.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends 4-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, 1997, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Craft Memorial United Methodist Church.
The Giles County native was the son of the late Nathan and Lella Inglet Willoughby. He was a member of the Craft Memorial United Methodist Church, the Willis Fleming VFW Post No. 4969 and former member of the Columbia Rotary Club. Serving in the United States Navy, he was a veteran of World War II.
He was married to the late Martha Ruth McLin Willoughby who died Oct. 5, 1995.
Survivors include his daughter, Martha Ragan of Thompson Station; three brothers, Norris Willoughby of Brea, Calif., Alvin Willoughby of Houston Texas and Bobby Willoughby of Nashville; four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Yokley of Columbia and Mrs. Jane Wheeler of Pulaski; and one grandchild, Matthew Ragan of Memphis.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
