JAMES EARL "JIM" MEYER, son of Henry and Mildred Moore Meyer, was born December 25, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, and departed this life February 14, 2012, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-two years.

Although known to many as Jim, his friends and family had many endearing nicknames for him through the years, including "Henry," "Henrod," "PeeWee," and "Uncle P." Jim was the kind of person you could meet once and remember forever. He was a friend to all and could relate to everyone on some level regardless of the social setting.

Jim made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and at the time of his passing, had been a longtime active and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jim graduated from Lebanon High School in 1968. He then went on to attend and graduate from Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in Wildlife Conservation and Management.

Jim was a hard worker and through the years earned well- deserved respect from his peers. He was employed with Larry's Sporting Goods, a tackle shop at Bennett Spring, for nearly ten years. He then established Jim's Wholesale Sporting Goods, where he was the owner and operator for twenty-two years. The relationships he made through the years were important to him. He truly appreciated his customers and took time to deal with each of them on a personal level.

On April 9, 1988, he was united in marriage with Marianne Davis who survives along with their daughter Shanda. At the time of his passing, Jim and Marianne had celebrated twenty-three years of love and laughter together.

He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. He and Marianne attended several Cardinal games each season.

When he wasn't working, Jim enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an outdoorsman in every sense of the word. He spent many hours fishing and hunting with friends and family. He enjoyed introducing his wife to his various hobbies. In fact, he surprised her by having her first turkey and first pheasant mounted. He was also a talented golfer and could often be found playing a round of golf with his friends. These were memory making moments for him, and he treasured every minute. His most precious memories were those spent with his loving family.

He is survived by his wife Marianne; one daughter, Shanda Cullen and her husband Josh; his father, Henry Meyer; one brother, Hank Meyer and his wife Sandra; one sister, Louise Gadd and her husband John, all of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews, including, Jodi Stewart and her husband Mike, Lara Barnhill and her husband Jim, Bailey and Holly Davis, Michael Bowman and his wife Katy, and Paul Meyer; several great nieces and nephews; his father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Connie Davis of Petersburg, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Paula Davis Faw; and brother-in-law Serge Davis, all of the state of Illinois; other relatives and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Meyer; one sister, Carol Meyer; and one nephew, Steven Bowman.

Whether you knew him as James, Jim, Henry, Henrod, PeeWee, or Uncle P, having him in our lives, although not long enough, was a blessing. He touched each of us in a different way. His kind spirit and wonderful smile will be treasured. He leaves behind wonderful memories. Our loss was most certainly Heaven's gain.
