Edward Elmer Tate

Edward Elmer Tate, age 77, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2004. Elmer was born in LaPorte, Texas, on February 7, 1927, to Elbert M. and Lottie B. Tate.

Elmer served his country in the Coast Guard during World War II. He worked as a glazier and retired from Binswanger Glass Company. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved to barbecue for his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sons, John Wesley Tate and Calvin Roy Tate, and five sisters.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Tate of Austin, Texas, as well as his sister, Annabelle Marx of Manchaca, Texas and his brother, Buddy Tate of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, where services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/ Forest Oaks Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Vista Care Foundation, 7800 Shoal Creek Blvd., Austin, Texas 78757 or the charity of your choice.
