Another pioneer citizen of Claiborne Parish passed to his great reward when J. T. Goodwin died at his home five miles south of Haynesville, Feb. 21, 1933. Had Mr. Goodwin lived until April he would have been 86 years of age. Mr. Goodwin was born in Mississippi but came to Claiborne when a lad of seven or eight years. He has lived almost his entire life here and was counted as one of the best citizens. He remained very active until near the end when he was stricken with pneumonia. He has reared a splendid family of children, who have the respect of the entire community. he was a Christian gentleman, always living a clean life and believed in the upbuilding of the parish. In the passing of Mr. Goodwin, Haynesville and surrounding community feel the loss very heavily for he was a friend to everyone. He is survived by his wife Desmonia Ware and children, Ben, Jim, George, Robert and Mrs. Sallie Lambright.
