ROBERT J., BABIONE, Sr. 75, of Boca Raton passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 4, 2004. Bob was born on March 19, 1929 in Lake Worth, FL.

After graduating from Lake Worth High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Helen Bates, in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bob received a degree in Mortuary Science from the Dallas Institute, and returned with Helen to Lake Worth to raise their family and begin a life of dedication to God, family, and serving others during times of need.

As a Boca Raton resident since 1964, and the founder of Babione Funeral Homes, he left an impression upon the community; his quiet dignity spoke volumes. He was a good man who taught his children the meaning of: "give and you shall receive" as well as "have faith in God".

A devoted Catholic and a long time parishioner of St. Joan of Arc, he actively supported the church and The St. Vincent de Paul Seminary. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Sierra Club, Junto Club, Boca Raton Roundtable, a 50-year member of the Boca Raton Sunrise Kiwanis Club, The American Legion, The Boca Raton Elks Lodge, and Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.

His commitment to the community includes support of The George Snow Scholarship Fund, The Boca Raton Historical Society, The Center for Group Counseling, The Humanitarian Society, The Arthritis Foundation, The DeHoernle Alzheimer Pavilion Boca Raton's Promise for Youth; he was on the President's Council of Lynn University, and a supporter F.A.U., Pope J. Paul II H.S. and The Wellness Center.

Bob was instructional in the founding process of Hospice By The Sea, The Boca Raton YMCA, and The Mae Volen Senior Center. Close to his heart is support of The Handicap Meet Christ, Horses and the Handicapped, The Boca Raton Society for the Disabled, The Twin Palms School for the disabled and the Association for Community Counseling.

He was a charter member of "Dollars for Scholars" of Lake Worth High School, as well as The Boca Pops and a benefactor to Boca Raton Community Hospital.

Bob is survived by Helen, his loving wife and life partner of 53 years; his devoted children: Kathryn (Mark) Rogers, Phyllis (Michael) Haggerty, Mary (Joseph) Veccia, Jr., Patricia Ashley Babione, Robert (Susan) Babione, Jr., Paul Babione and Jean Babione; brother, John Babione and sister, Pauline Neff. The proud grandfather of Brian, Tiffany, Kimberly, Jennifer, Pamela, Alyson, Katie, Jonathan, Laura, Cathy, Robert, and Cynthia, great-grandfather to Aiden, Abigail, Kade and Quinn, he is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 - 8:00 PM at Babione Funeral Home; (561) 395-8787 with a 7:00 PM Wake Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 9, 2004 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church with interment to follow at Boca Raton Cemetery.

The family has suggested that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice. Babione Funeral Home East Chapel1100 North Federal Highway Boca Raton, FL 33432 (561) 395-8787
