MILLER, Irene Emma (Osborne)
At the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, Dunnville, on June 2, 2010, in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband Russell Miller (2000) and Sgt. Joseph Goldspink (1943), and son Kenneth (1993). Dear mother-in-law of JoAnn Miller (Peterborough) Loving grandmother of Kendra (Jeff) Kidd, Lee, Scott & Holly and great grandmother of Brady and Jase Kidd. Lovingly remembered by Russell's family, Gordon (Joan), Margaret (Reg 2006), Frances (Jack 2009) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Minnie & Sydney Osborne, special aunt & uncle Irene & Alvin Nott, and brothers Tom & Gordon Osborne and Jack (Nell Nott. In March 1942 she enlisted during WWII and was stationed at Jarvis where she served in the RCAF WD as a Parachute Rigger. Irene enjoyed reminiscing about her service in the forces and the lifelong friends she made during that time. Upon discharge from the service, Irene trained as a practical nurse and enjoyed a long nursing career at Dunnville Hospital and even in her 94th year enjoyed weekly coffee with retired nursing friends. Irene and Russell raised their son Ken, while living on Ross Avenue in Dunnville. Throughout the years, they made many cherished friends who have always been important to Irene along with her family. She spent many years as a member of Home League at the Salvation Army and later became a member of South Cayuga Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at the BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, 315 Broad St. E., Dunnville, on Saturday, June 5, 2010, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral service to follow in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment Maple Lawn Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Dunnville Hospital & Healthcare Foundation or South Cayuga Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
