It should be noted that there is no evidence of a grave/burial for this James Ferguson in Fishing Creek Presbyterian Cemetery. He and his wife Agnes and their children were definitely members of this church and they are listed in the visitation registers of Rev John Simpson (1774-1776). It is likely that they are buried here, however if so then they are either in unmarked graves or their stones have been lost to deterioration of time and elements. Estimation of birth is based on the idea that in order to be the executor of his father's will in 1741 he had to be 21, and therefore born no later than 1720. Death is estimated to be 1788 - in October 1788 their son, Robert sold land to his brother Abraham, and this is the land that his parents James and Agnes had retained an interest in (in 1785 James and Agnes deeded the land to Robert but with the right to "reserve the enjoyment" of the land until their deaths). Because no mention was made in that sale of James or Agnes and them staying on the land until their deaths, it is presumed they died by this date. Therefore the likely date of death is between 1785 and 1788.
