Sumter, Nov. 3 - Campbell E. Stubbs, age 67 years, died this morning. He is survived by a wife and two sons, Calvin and Hoyt; two daughters, Mrs. W. Y. Spann and Miss Rebbea Stubbs. Deceased was born in Marlboro county and resided in Sumter forty years. Funeral at 10:30 tomorrow from late residence.
He was for years a leading cotton buyer in Sumter, until retired from business. He represented this county in the legislature and served on the bosrd of county registration.

Sumter, Nov. 3. - C. E. Stubbs, who was stricken with paralysis a few days ago, died early this morning.
The funeral will be from the residence on Washington street tomorrow morning at 10;30 o'clock, and interment will be in the Oakland avenue cemetery. Services will be conducted by the Rev. D. M. McLeod of the Trinity Methodist church. The active pallbearers will be; H. L. Scarborough, R. D. Epps, H. M. Stuckey, G. D. Shore, Ferd Levi and G. A. Lemon. Honorary pallbearers will be E. S. Carson, W. R. Cooper, A. W. Suder, H. J. McLaurin, T. B. Fraser, R. O. Purdy, W. M. Graham, W. P. Smith, N. O'Donnell, D. J. Winn, W. W. Roland and P. G. Bowman.
Mr. Stubbs was born in Marlboro county April 1846. He served through the war under Gen. Hagood, and shortly after the war moved to Sumter. He was a merchant for some years and then became a specialist in cotton and was a buyer for more than 20 years. He retired from business about ten years ago. Recently he served a term in the legislature, and one of his acts was introduction of the bill making the passing of checks without funds in bank a felony. Mr. Stubbs for many years had been high in the councils of the Methodist church.
Mr. Stubbs is survived by Mrs. Stubbs, his sons, Hoyt and Elvin, and his daughters, Mrs. C. L. Stubbs, Mrs. S. W. Stubbs, Mrs. W. Y. Spann and Miss Alice Stubbs, all of Sumter, C. L. Stubbs and S. W. Stubbs of Sumter and W. G. Stubbs of Greenville are nephews.
