Lester B. Fiedler, 93, of Osseo, died Friday in Green Bay at his granddaughter's home.
He was born January 3, 1899, near Prescott, to parents Herman and Rachel (Bracken) Fiedler. He married Gwendolyn Stolt on June 5, 1926, in Prescott. Lester worked at the bank in Prescott for over 20 years. He moved to Osseo in 1940 and owned and operated Marshall-Wells hardware store until 1948. He also worked as a bank teller in Osseo until retiring in 1965. He was a life member of the Osseo Masonic Lodge.
In 1950 he and his wife sponsored a Latvian family. Ernest and Lena Alecksis and their grandson, Ivars von Gruzis, who were from a displaced persons camp.
Survivors included two sons, Ross (Yvonne) Fiedler of Platterville, and Bruce (Hope) Fiedler of Plymouth, a sister Florence Fiedler of Prescott, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Besides his wife, who died on March 12, 1992, he was preceded by a daughter, Frances and a granddaughter, Lynn.
Services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Osseo United Church of Christ, Rev. Penny VanndeBerg officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Prescott.
Friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, and one hour before services Monday at the church.
