OSSEO -- Gwendolyn M. Fiedler, 85, Osseo died Thursby at the Osseo Nursing Home.
Gwen, the daughter of Francis and Fay (Tyler) Stolt, was born Sept. 25, 1906, in Bay City. She married Lester Fiedler June 5, 1926, in Prescott. She was a teacher in rural Prescott prior to her marriage. In 1940 they moved to Osseo where they owned the Marshall-Wells Hardware Store until 1948. She worked as a income tax preparer for many years.
Music was an important part of Gwen's life. In the 1920s she played piano for silent movies in Prescott. She was the church organist at the United Church of Christ in Osseo from 1941 to 1956. She played in serval country schools programs and accompanied several high school students. She taught piano for several years.
In 1950n Gwen and her husband sponsored a Latvian family, Ernest and Lena Alecksis and their grandson, Ivar von Gruzis, who were from a displaced person camp.
She is survived by her husband Lester; two sons, Bruce (Hope) of Plymouth and Ross (Yvonne) of Plateville; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Jack Aadalen of Prescott; two sisters-in-law, Florence Fiedler of Prescott, Carol Stolt of Wawautosa.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances; one granddaughter, Lynn, one brother, Clarence Stolt; and one sister, Eileen Aadalen.
Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, at the United Church of Christ at Osseo with Rev. Penny VandeBerg officiating. Following services the body will be donated to the Mayo Clinic.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, and one hour prior to the services at the church Sunday.
