Peter Fiedler Dies

Peter Fiedler, life-long resident of the Prescott community, passed away Tuesday, August 29, at Memorial Hospital in Hastings. He had been a patient there for six weeks prior to his death.

Peter August Emil Fiedler was born May 29, 1871 in Oak Grove Township to Augusta and Ernest Fiedler, one of seven children. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Prescott. He operated the farm for his parents until his marriage to Anna Gotzman of Ellsworth on January 5, 1910.

To this union four children were born, Leon, who lives on the original Fiedler farm; Doris Larson of Ellsworth; and Violet Peterson of Springfield, Ill. One son died in infancy.

Mr. Fiedler operated the farm in Oak Grove Township until 1941 when he moved to their residence in Prescott. He continued his active membership in St. Paul's Lutheran Church until the time of his death.

One of the highlights in the full and productive life lived by Mr. Fiedler was the celebration of the golden wedding in 1960. The full bridal party was in attendance, an occurrence that is unusual in this span of years.

Mr. Fiedler leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Doris Larson and Mrs. Violet Peterson; one son, Leon; and one brother Ernest. Also seven grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, Sept. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. W. L. Beckendorf officiating. Interment was at Pine Glen Cemetery.
