Emily Augusta Fiedler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wenzel, was born in the village of Tauberg, Saxony, Germany, on Jan, 8th, 1837. She was baptized in her infancy into the Lutheran church, and after being duly instructed in the Christian religion was confirmed in the year 1850. She came to America with her parents and in 1867 was united in marriage to Ernest Fiedler. To this union ten children were born, five of whom preceded their mother into eternity. The family lived in Prescott for one year and then moved onto the farm in the township of Oak Grove.

Mr. and Mrs. Fiedler celebrated their golden wedding in 1908 and on the 19th of February in the following year the beloved husband and father was taken away. Since that time Mrs. Fiedler has lived at the home of her son, Peter, loved by her children and respected by all who knew her.

On Sunday, Feb. 11th, she was suddenly taken ill and the sickness developed into pneumonia. In accordance with the will of Almighty God her sick bed became her dying bed. She was well aware that the end of her life's journey was at hand and she was prepared to go with her Lord. On Monday morning, Feb. 19th, her appointed hour arrived and she passed peacefully away. She was a good Christian, a kind and loving mother and a true friend.

Funeral services were held last Thursday, February 22, at the Fiedler home and at the Lutheran church; Prescott. Rev. Baumann conducting the services and speaking in German from John 3.2 and in English from Cor.1:15, 55. The pallbearers were B. Betzel, B. Betzel, W. Tabor, J. Gotzman, Julius Reeck and Fred Holst. The body was taken to Pine Glen cemetery to its last resting place where it sleeps until the great day of resurrection.

The deceased is survived by five sons: Otto, Edward, Herman, Peter and Ernest Fiedler.
