Loretta Mae Strohl, 88, of Brazil, passed away at her residence July 23, 2007.

She was born December 16, 1918 in Van Buren Township, Clay County to Elza and Virgie Butler Schlatter.

She married William H. "Bud" Strohl December 16, 1939 in Terre Haute, IN.

Mrs. Strohl has lived in Brazil since 1947 and from 1979 has enjoyed spending the Winter months in Apache Junction, AZ.

Mrs. Strohl graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1937 and worked for CBS in Terre Haute until retiring January 13, 1978. She was also employed as a Clerk at J.C. Penny Co. and G.C. Murphy Co. in Brazil.

She attended the Harmony Methodist Church, and was a member of the Candlelight Campers and the National Campers and Hikers Association. She enjoyed spending time out of doors and flower gardening as she was known to have a "green thumb" and traveling all over the country.

Preceded in death were her parents, husband William H. "Bud" Strohl, and brothers Richard "Dick" Schlatter and Hershel Schlatter; two nieces, 3 nephews and other relatives.

Survivors include her nephews Brian and wife Julie Schlatter, Cris Eldridge and husband Gordon all of Brazil, Jim Schlatter and wife Penny of Rossville, IN, David Schlatter of Indianapolis, Denise Carpenter of Wabash, IN, as well as several great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Phyllis Schlatter, Mae Evans, and Marcille Zdansky, and a brother-in-law Jim Strohl.


Funeral Information
Services for Mrs. Strohl will be at Lawson – Miller Chapel Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11:00am with Rev. Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8pm.

Donations Information
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Riley Hospital envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
