A retired LSU executive secretary with a 20-year career in several departments, she died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at her residence in Baton Rouge. She was 82 and a native of St. Louis. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and after 8 a.m. Saturday until religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by a daughter, Debbie Carol McCreary Cook, Port Allen; a son, L. Jay McCreary, Slidell; grandsons, Darryl McCreary, Franklin, Tenn., Barrett and Brandon McCreary, both of Slidell, Harvest Reynolds, Port Allen; two great-grandchildren, Aidan Jay McCreary and Liam Padraic McCreary; a sister, Judith Brunk, Mansfield, Ohio; a brother, David Clever, Hoboken, Ga.; and a special friend, Geri Enclade, Florida. Preceded in death by her husband, Coach Jay McCreary; mother, Gussie Umbstead; and a sister, Dorothy Rockwell.
