Professional Football Player, Coach. He played college football at Lebanon Valley College and Dickinson College, where he was team captain. In 1924, he joined Philadelphia's Frankford Yellow Jackets of the National Football League, where he played at tackle and guard, contributing to the team's 11-2-1 record. As a placekicker in 1925, he is credited with five field goals and twelve PATs, helping the team to a 13-7 record. In 1926, he joined the new American Football League's Philadelphia Quakers, but when the league failed, he returned to Frankford the following season. He was twice honored as a first-team All-Pro. In 1929, he became the team's player-coach, while continuing to play on the offensive and defensive lines and as a punter. His NFL coaching record over three seasons was 13-20-7.
