"Edwin C. CANNON, Jr., September 26, 1916-November 5, 2003 // COLUMBUS, GA--Edwin C. CANNON, Jr., 87, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Cobis Assisted Living [7200 Manor Road, Columbus]. // Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel, with the Rev. Helen BERENTHIEN officiating. A private burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home. // Mr. CANNON was born Sept. 26, 1916 in Columbus, son of the late Edwin C. CANNON, Sr., and Nellie PAGE CANNON. He had lived in Columbus most of his life and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. // Mr. CANNON was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was retired from [the] Central [of] Georgia Railway as an Engineer after 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel DALTON CANNON [who had been previously married to a KING]. // Survivors include two sisters [one of whom is now deceased]...Janie C.
