MRS. WORKMAN DIES OF POLIO

MRS. RALPH J. WORKMAN, 26 years old, 1429 Oak avenue, mother of four children, died at 9:30 a.m. today in Hackley Hospital of polio, the third death from this disease since the first 1952 case was reported June 30.

Mrs. Workman was rushed to the hospital last Friday night after being stricken, and 11-year-old WINSTON WILKENSEN [WINSTON A. WILKINSON], of Fremont, gave up his place in a respirator so that Mrs. Workman could receive the benefit of the breathing device. Her condition remained serious and surgery of the trachea was resorted to Tuesday.

Born Sept. 15, 1926, in Grand Rapids, she was the former MISS DELORES DUCIUS. She spent her early years in Grand Rapids and Ionia, was graduated from Ionia High School, and came to Muskegon 10 years ago from Grand Rapids. She was married in Muskegon Oct. 1, 1948, to RALPH J. WORKMAN.

Mrs. Workman leaves her husband; two sons, RALPH, JR., and HAROLD, and two daughters, MICHELLE and JUDITH, all at home; her stepfather and her mother, MR. and MRS. ERNEST STEINER, Muskegon.

MRS. RALPH J. WORKMAN, age 26, passed away this morning at Hackley Hospital following a short illness. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 4:00 o'clock at the Clock Chapel the Rev. Cornelius Muyskins officiating. Interment will be made in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clock Funeral Home.
