Amelina Married Donatien Domingues 4 Feb 1860, in the Catholic Church of New Iberia, LA. Donatien was born in the part of St. Martin Parish that became Iberia Parish. Their parental family homes were close together in what became newly formed Iberia parish.
The rural home place and farm of Donatien and Amelina was located on state highway 674 north (Grand Marias Road) & west of Jeanerette a couple of miles towards New Iberia. This was the home of birth for all of their children. After Donatien's death in 1907 Ameliana moved into Jeanerette, and built a house on Main Street next door to the corner lot home of Felix Schexnayder at Main and Pellerin.
It is said Amelina was a very shrewd business women and on the lighter side enjoyed card playing - some say poker. She was instrumental in the introduction of Azalea shrubs in Jeanerette. She died, 23 Dec 1936, in Jeanerette and was buried in the St John's Church Cemetery in Jeanerette – age 95, leaving 55 grandchildren, 121 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.
Granddaughter Miss Gertrude Schexnayder purchased Amelina's home adjoined her parental home on Main Street.
