Geraldine Gleason Price, age 90, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Geraldine was born in Alvordton, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Esterline Gleason. Geraldine obtained a nursing degree from Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in 1942, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Columbia University, and a Master's Degree in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She began her career teaching nursing at the University of Cincinnati and The Ohio State University from 1952-1971. In 1971, Geraldine joined the Ohio Department of Health as the Assistant Chief of the Division of Nursing. She was the Division Chief from 1972-1985. From 1985 until her retirement in 1988, she was the Chief of the Bureau of Support Services. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Oliver A. Price. She will be greatly missed by her sister, June (George) Greene of Brighton, Ohio; nephew, David (Maryle) Greene of Bellevue, Ohio; nieces, Mary (Ken) Fenwick of Elyria, Ohio, Rebecca (Craig) Norton of Brighton, Ohio, and Jody (Dr. Wm.) Spreng of Wellington, Ohio; and numerous extended family members and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Westminster Thurber Community Chapel, 717 Neil Ave, where family will receive friends from1 P.M. until time of service. Rev. Jim Sledge officiating.
