His Kneass Opera Troupe made the first performance of Stephen Foster's song "Oh Susanna".
He performed with his daughter, Anne Jane Rentfrow, playing Little Eva in Uncle Tom's Cabin.
The Nelson Kneass Monument Association organzed in Chillicothe has for its object the erection of a monument over the grave. The slab which marked his grave has been chipped away by relic hunters until mothing remains of it.
