WELLINGTON - James Masten, 81, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea, retired Methodist minister of Quanah, and the Rev. Charles Addington, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home.

Mr. Masten was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Wellington to Gilbert W. Masten and Martha C. Brown Masten. He married Sylvia Cooper on March 27, 1943, in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Laquita Carey of Denton and Charlotte Stephens of Wellington; a brother, Bob Masten of Lubbock; a sister, Charlene Wood of Morton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the James Masten Memorial Scholarship of the Handicapped, in care of the funeral home, 1300 East Avenue, Wellington, TX 79065.
