Her father was Charles E. Butler, son of Henry and Rebecca Green Butler, of New Haven, Connecticut. Born in Richmond, MA, March 22, 1818, died in New York, May 1, 1897.
Her mother was
Susan Ridley Sedgwick Butler, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Dana Ellery Sedgwick, born Jan. 28, 1828, died March 17, 1883. Susan married Charles E. Butler, a lawyer practicing in New York City, on October 1, 1855.
After Susan died on 17 March 1883, her husband commissioned St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge to be built in her memory.

In papers of her (Henrietta's) grandfather's collection, Robert Sedgwick 1840-1894.
Susan Sedgwick Butler's papers consist of astronomy notes, poetry, and correspondence with friends. Also included there is a letter to the congregation of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge upon its completion, written by Susan's widower Charles E. Butler (Butler had the church built in 1883 as a memorial to Susan).
