York Donald B. krout, 82, passed away at 3:57 a.m. Monday , May 19 ,2003 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Regina A. (Cleary) Krout with whom he celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on April 12.
He was born on Oct 27 1920 in York Co. to the late Charles and Verna (Gross) Krout
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Kenneth G. krout, Walla Walla, Washington; neices and nephews. He was preceeded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Krout.
Mr. Krout was a member of Bethany United of Christ. He retired in 1983 from Harley DavidsonInc.; and had served in the US Armored Division during WWII in Europe as a Platoon Sargeant. After WWII, he accepted a commission to second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves. He was soon recalled to active duty and served in the Army in the Occupation of Austria. In 1980 he was placed on the US retired li8st as a Major.
