Obituary
JEFFERS L. BENNETT
Jeffers L. Bennett, eldest son of the late Hialmer
Bennett of West Peru was born November 21,
1856. He passed away at Physicians hospital in
Plattsburgh April 3, 1933.
Mr Bennett is survived by his wife Eliza Parsons
Bennett. Two daughters, Mrs. Calla Haig of
Lake Placid, Mrs. Cassius Brewster of Lake
Placid and Florida, a son Parsons of Lake Placid,
five brothers Charles of Wilmington , James and
Houghton of Plattsburgh, Eugene , address
unknown, Elmer of Plattsmouth, Nebraska,
three sisters, Mrs. Emma Wilson of Plattsburgh,
Mrs, Carrie Winch of Hudson N.Y., Mrs. Lena
Chapman of Chezy, N.Y., nine grandchildren
and a host of other relatives and friends.
Having been brought up on a farm, Jeff as he
was familiarity known, followed up his work
although by trade he was a carpenter.
It was while doing his much loved work that
he fell from a staging at his home, receiving
injuries that caused his death.
While Mr. Bennett had reached advanced years
in his life, he was in sound health and very
active. When it seemed as though he and
his family were to enjoy life together, God
saw fit to pronounce his earthly work
finished, taking him to a home not built
with his hands. His death has brought
to our minds that one more of our number
has passed over; he will be greatly
missed especially by his immediate family.
Rev. L. T. Cole, pastor of the M. E. Church in
Saranac, gave a fine talk, rendered an excellent
prayer, closed by repeating the well known
poem,"Crossing the Bar"
The flowers were many and beautiful. His
daughter Mrs. Brewster being in Florida ,
a brother Mr. Houghton Bennett of Plattsburgh
and Mr. Dan Parsons of Saranac, Mrs. Bennett's
brother, were unable to be present.
The pall bearers were Fred Parsons of Saranac ,
a brother of Mrs. Bennett; his son Irving
Parsons, Washburn Parsons another nephew of
Mrs. Bennett, Walter Bennett, son of
Mr. Bennett's brother, Sol Beruchemin and
E.J. Picket. near neighbors.
