Carol D.Abbey,85,of Sioux City,Iowa and Venice,Fla.,died Monday Feb.2, at Sarasota,Fal.nursing home.Mrs.Abbey was born Jan.19,1919,in Sioux City,Iowa,the daughter of Victor & Bess Anderson.She grew up and attended school in Sioux City,where she graduated as a registered nurse from the Lutheran Hospital Nursing School in Sioux City.She married Howard W.Abbey in 1942,in Baltimore,Md.,where she attended John Hopkins Medical School of Anesthesiology.She later returned with her family to Sioux City,where she was employed as nursing anesthetist.She was head of anesthesiology for more than 30 years at Lutheran Hospitall to a multi-unit medical center.Howard passed away in Spring of 1986,at Lake Okoboji,where the two had a home for 20 years.She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Morningside and later Frist Methodist Church in Milford,Iowa.She was actived in Lutheran Association.In 1971 and 1972,she served as president of American Association of Nurse Anesthetist.Her hobbies include golf and knitting.She is survived by a daughter and her husband Jean & Crawford Hart of Brooklyn,N.Y.;a grandson,Keeley Hart of Brooklyn;two sisters,Meredith Lewis of Sioux City & Bonnie Bloxham of Wichita,Kan.,formerly of Des Moines.She also preceded in death by her parents;a brother,Jerry Anderson;two married ssisters,Dorothy Reback and Adeline Sanford.
