Funeral services for Donald Joseph "McGee" Anderson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a Vigil services to be held at 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Donald "McGee" Anderson was born to Glen and Ann Anderson of Melcher on December 13, 1938. Don passed away after a long battle with cancer on September 15, 2003 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 64.
Don was a 1957 graduate of Melcher-Dallas High School. After graduation he joined the National Guard. McGee was an employee of John Deere for 41 years. He was a member of the UAW Local 450, the American Legion Post 632 for 23 years and the Iowa Fox Hunters Association. He was an avid hunter but his enjoyment came from spending time with his 14 grandchildren, his children and his nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Anderson. He is survived by his children, Mary Jo Bevard-Kuhl of Kansas City, MO, Michael Anderson of Melcher-Dallas, Catherine Anderson of Ankeny, Richard Anderson of Carbondale, IL, Theresa Nine of Greenwood, MO, David Anderson of Euless, TX, Donald Anderson of Melcher-Dallas, Julie McVay of Des Moines and Christopher Anderson of Melcher-Dallas. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia Chidester of Melcher-Dallas and two brothers, Robert Anderson of Pleasantville and Dennis Anderson of Maryville, MO.
