Cecily F. Williams, 92, of Sugar Grove passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at Provena Mercy Medical Center. She was born December 27, 1917 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Cecily was a member of New England Congregational Church in Aurora and First Congregational Church in Benzonia, Michigan. In 1940, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan. She then moved to New York where she met her husband, Alfred Williams, whom she married in 1945. Cecily was quite a talented artist having created many ceramic pieces which she fired in her own home kiln. She was also a very adept seamstress having made many exceptional clothing items. Cecily lived a very active life. She traveled extensively throughout the world including a trip to India where she went off on her own to explore the country. She enjoyed going to the theater and she loved gardening. At 92 years old, she still enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Aurora Country Club Ladies Bowling league. Cecily also kept her membership at "Curves" active by attending twice a week. She even played a few rounds of golf last summer. Likewise, she kept her mind active as well by working crossword puzzles, playing Bridge and reading mystery books and The New Yorker Magazine. Her winters were spent in Illinois where she enjoyed living on her own and at her summer home on Crystal Lake in Beulah, Michigan. Cecily was a very loving person and was actively involved with the Suicide Prevention hotline. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn (Steve) Stephens of Sugar Grove, Illinois; one son, Lawrence (Beverly) Williams of Redding, California; two nephews, Rene (Laura) Doucet of Great Falls, Virginia, and Theo Doucet of Supply, North Carolina; two grand nieces, Ivy Mason and Elise Doucet both of Great Falls, Virginia, and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her sister, Cordelia Doucet and by her parents, J Dorsey Forrest and Cordelia Kautz Forrest Mayfield. A Memorial Service will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 4:00 pm at the New England Congregational Church, 406 West Galena Blvd, Aurora, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until the funeral hour. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to either the New England Congregational Church or to Suicide Prevention Services, 528 S. Batavia Avenue, Batavia, Illinois, 60510.
