Death took a long time resident of Cloquet Sunday afternoon when Edward J. Solem passed away. He resided at 338 8th Street.
Born in Bergen, Norway, he was 82 years of age. He had resided in Cloquet over 60 years and had been on the city police force for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway lodge, and the Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are a son, John, Cloquet; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Grider, Kasson, Minnesota and Mrs. Ann Kennaly, Arlington, Virginia; one grandchild and one great-grandchild; six brothers Hans and William, Cloquet; Joe, California; Andrew, Sorum, South Dakota; Olaf Portland, Oregon; and Carl, in Norway and one sister, Mrs. Helen Nottveit, Norway.
