A sudden heart attack took James home to the Lord. Born in Dayton, Ohio. Grad Leland High School 1973. Track teams participant. Graduated San Jose City College 1978, participating on the track team. Grad Columbia Southern University.

Survived by his parents, Mary Anne and Gerald Harness, his loving fiance, Elise Hoover and countless relatives and friends.

He was a blacksmith, realtor, surfer, pipe maker, restorer of antique stoves, bath tubs, etc. In his spare time, James was employed by Ford Aerospace (later Space Systems/Loral) where he worked for 25 years. ISHM (Associate Safety and Health Manager), OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Manager), National Safety Management Society, American Society of Safety Engineers, OS&H Specialist-Manager.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 2 PM at Life Church Silicon Valley, 1515 Kooser Rd., San Jose, Ca. Please come and share fond memories and photos. In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to a "no kill" animal shelter, the American Heart Assoc. or have dinner with a loved one. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
