Inscription

Sacred to the Memory of the Right Honourable Lady Frederica Louisa Stanhope, Daughter of the Earl of Mansfield, and Wife of the Honourable James Hamilton Stanhope, who Died in Childbed January 14th, 1823, in the 23rd Year of Her Age.

Her Life was all Purity and Happiness, Its Pious Close Like the Slumber of a Child.
Her Own Prayer will Tell What She Wished to Be:

"To Be a Pious Christian; a Faithful Affectionate and Tender Wife, a Dutiful and Grateful Daughter, a Kind Sister; the Mother to My Children Which My Mother was to Me; the Friend of the Poor and Needy, to Have True Charity, to Live a Godly Life on Earth and to Die in the Blessed Hope That My Sins, Though Many, May Be Forgiven and That I Shall Enter the Gates of Everlasting Happiness, There to Meet or Wait for Those I Love; This is the Life and End for Which I Pray."

To His Allwise and Allrighteous Will, Who Thus Early Withdrew Her to Himself, a Resigned, Afflicted, but Grateful Husband Bows. Cheered by Her Memory, Incited by Her Example, He Waits in Humble Hope for an United Immortality.
