Services for Robert (Bob) Froman, owner of Froman Oil and Propane Co., will be 2:00 p.m., Thurs. Jan. 12, 2012 at the First Baptist Church Claremore, where he has been a member since 1959. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wed. Jan. 11, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., with family receiving visitors from 6 to 8.

Bob passed away on Mon. Jan 9, 2012 at his home. He was 72.

Born Nov. 30, 1939 in Tiawah, to William F. and Julie Ellen (Horner) Froman, the youngest of nine children, Bob received his elementary education in Tiawah and his high school education in Claremore, graduating with the class of 1959.

Bob worked as a police officer in Claremore in the early 60s and began his life-long career operating and later owning a Skelly station which became a Texaco station, at the "Y" where Patti Page and Will Rogers meet.

On July 20, 1962 Bob and Donna Knight were united in marriage. The couple made their home in Claremore throughout their years and together raised two sons.

In 1970 they bought the Skelly Bulk Wholesale dealership on Owalla St. and in 1984 moved it north of Claremore on Route 66 to their present location. In addition to running a business, Bob also served his community on the city council representing Ward 2.

With a work ethic second to none, Bob poured his heart and soul into the business he built with Donna, which provided well for their family. Bob was most proud when his sons joined him and they now carry on with that same work ethic he instilled in them.

Relaxing meant spending time on the farm, taking care of his cattle. He loved buying rural property and fixing it up. Bob's pastures looked like parks and his fence rows were always kept immaculate. He also enjoyed tinkering with old tractors. But Bob most enjoyed his family. The time spent with his sons and those special grand and great grandchildren was time well spent.

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, Bob will be missed by all who knew him. Those family members who survive include his wife Donna; his sons, Cary Froman and wife Sherry and Kevin Froman and wife Roni all of Claremore; his grandchildren Josh Froman and wife Kim, Tamra Hoffman and husband Chris, Meggie Froman, Robert Froman and Maddie Froman; his great grandchildren, the twins Roslyn and Lucas Froman; his sister Belle Burd of Owasso; his brother Jake Froman and wife Linda of Claremore; sisters-in-law Shirley Froman of Georgia, Phyllis Froman of Oologah, Charlotte Curtiss and husband Bud of Claremore and Joyce Josey of Texas and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lorene Vickrey, Josie Froman and Mary Elizabeth Sullivan; his brothers Bill Froman, John Froman and Lloyd Froman.
