Sarah Frances Middleton, age 92, of Port Republic, MD., formerly of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on August 8, 2010 in St. Leonard, MD. Sarah was born on August 16, 1917 in Phoenix, Arizona to William E. and Nettie Cavness. Sarah had many activities that brought her joy, but most of all she loved being one of the original members of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Phoenix. She was part of the graduating class of 1935 from Phoenix Union High School and class of 1939 from Arizona State University. From there Mrs. Middleton went on to teach kindergarten for 45 years and married James Middleton in June of 1943.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband James Middleton who passed away in December of 1986 and also by her parents William E. and Nettie Cavness. She is survived by her son Michael E. Middleton and daughter -in-law Mary of Port Republic, MD. She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Cavness of Phoenix, AZ, and Martha J. Gardiner of Huston, TX. In addition to her son and siblings she also has two grandchildren and three great grandchildren that she is survived by.
Funeral arrangements were provided by the Rausch Funeral Home, P.A. 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.
